Nationwide enhances free jewellery course for members

Nationwide Jewellers has announced it has streamlined its Retail Jewellery Business Management Course to allow more members to take advantage of the free training program.

Several one-day training modules have been converted to webinars and course durations were reduced to half a day, which will be made available via Nationwide’s 24/7 online resource library. The online modules include Human Resources, Visual Merchandising and Understanding Financial Reports.

“This has enabled us to reduce the course duration from one day to half a day, making it easier for more members to be able to attend” Colin Pocklington, managing director, Nationwide Jewellers said.

Several one-day training modules have been converted to webinars and course durations were reduced to half a day, which will be made available via Nationwide’s 24/7 online resource library.

He explained the 2022 course was restructured to focus on key jewellery business scheduling (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually) and tasks, which were made “in response to members attending the course and seeking further guidance as to the most appropriate times to carry out the various ‘retail science’ tasks identified.”

“We provide focus on the six key benchmarks that really matter in our industry, and how to improve each of them throughout the year on the path to industry best practice.”

The marketing module was also enhanced to include training on how to establish a digital marketing system and how members could take advantage of online platforms to strengthen their businesses and increase profitability.

The course added training on how to use the group’s exclusive Retail Management Report and the Industry Merchandise Performance report that is integrated into the Retail Edge POS system. Members will be guided on how to use the reports to increase sales, improve profitability and stock turns.

More than 100 Nationwide members have completed the course throughout Adelaide, Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney when it started in late 2018.

The course rollout will be scheduled in several capital cities throughout next year.
