The large stone was unearthed last month at the Ekati Mine Misery Pipe, in Canada’s Northwest Territories.
The company claims it is the largest fancy vivid yellow diamond discovered in Canada.

Ekati is Canada’s first diamond mine and is known for supplying premium rough diamond assortments to the global market for more than 24 years.
As previously reported, Australian company, Burgundy Diamond Mines (BDM) recently announced the discovery of the first fancy colour diamond at the Ellendale project since operations were restarted.
BDM discovered a 1.51-carat fancy colour yellow diamond, octahedral in shape, at the Blina mine which is adjacent to the Ellendale site.
The Ellendale Mine once produced approximately 50 per cent of the world’s yellow diamonds, however, operations were suspended in 2015 when Kimberley Diamond Company entered voluntary administration.
BDM acquired leases at Ellendale in early 2020 with plans to return the mine to ‘fully operational’ by March of 2023.
