NZ Makers Mark gets thumbs up

The Jewellery Manufacturers Federation of New Zealand (JMF) received positive feedback to its debut launch of the Makers Mark at the New Zealand Jewellery Fair.
The stamp is intended to be a mark of quality that will help distinguish New Zealand-made jewellery from jewellery manufactured in other parts of the world.
JMF president Greg Jones told Jeweller, “The JMF Makers Mark was very well received by attendees of the New Zealand Jewellery fair.
“Makers mark stamps were taken by existing JMF members and we attracted new members to JMF who wanted to purchase the stamp.”
Only pre-approved members are allowed to use the Makers Mark to ensure the high standard of work. The Makers Mark stamp can be placed on, or in, any piece of jewellery regardless of whether it is cast or handmade.
Jones hopes the mark will promote New Zealand-made jewellery and said it was a step in the right direction for locally manufactured jewellery.
