“We're three days in, so our investigators have their eyes open to all avenues. We're kind of keeping a broad outlook on it, so we're looking from all angles on how this item was stolen.”
Stephen Duivesteyn, Peel Regional Police

The report suggested the theft was likely linked to organised crime, citing an unnamed police source. Other valuable items were also taken.

Investigators believe the heist occurred on 17 April. Peel Regional Police inspector Stephen Duivesteyn said the investigation would explore ‘all avenues’ and described the incident as isolated and rare.

"Our goal is to solve this theft. We want to solve it. I cannot provide exact details. We do not consider this a public safety matter,” he said.

The Toronto Pearson International Airport is Canada’s busiest airport. It’s believed thieves accessed the public side of a warehouse which is leased to a third party outside the ‘primary security line’.
