Competitions, prizes, and giveaways at upcoming Sydney Fair

The International Jewellery Fair is less than two weeks away and organisers Expertise Events have confirmed an exciting schedule of special presentations, promotions, and giveaways.

The first 500 visitors each day will receive a ‘to have and to hold’ bridal pen and visitor show bags have been sponsored by AV Diamonds.

The traditional happy hour cocktail party is scheduled to go ahead with free stubby holders distributed courtesy of Paterson Fine Jewellery. The special Winmark wine-tasting session is also sure to be popular, led by former Pandora Australia CEO Karin Adcock.

Arya Opal Cutters will host a live opal cutting demonstration, while SABA Co will showcase live jewellery making. Expertise Events managing director Gary Fitz-Roy said that innovation and technical creativity will be in the spotlight

"The Sydney Fair is the only place you’ll see the industry’s major Australian suppliers all under one roof, joined by an exciting ensemble of international suppliers. This year’s fair will have one of the largest cross-sections of products the industry has seen in a decade.”

“With less than two weeks to go, we are thrilled with how this year's Fair is shaping up,” Expertise Events managing director Fitz-Roy told Jeweller.

As is always the case, special prizes will be up for grabs – with Duraflex Group Australia hosting a lab-created diamond giveaway.

Any visitor that places an order with one of the distributor’s brands will enter the running for a three-carat VS2 F-colour emerald cut stone.

Salt and Pepper Diamonds will be hosting an interactive giveaway, with a one-carat diamond up for grabs. The contest – ‘Diamond Digs’ is free to enter.

Events such as the IJF are an important opportunity not only to trade but also to learn more about the industry in a bid to expand your business.

Publicist Karen Eck will be giving a special presentation titled ‘The Power of Visibility’ and lead a discussion about how to boost the profile of your business in a noisy and competitive environment.

Nationwide Jewellers managing director Colin Pocklington will lead the ‘What’s My Business Really Worth’ session, detailing the importance of thoroughly understanding the value of your business.

Understanding industry laws and regulations is also vital, and Alex Engel – assistant secretary of the transnational crime branch of the Attorney General’s Department – will host a session on proposed reforms to Australia’s anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regime.

On the lighter side of things, free caricature drawings for visitors will be created by Sydney cartoonist Brett Bower.

There will also be the opportunity to take your photo with the 2023 Lexus Melbourne Cup at the Palloys stand.

The Sydney Fair begins at the ICC in Darling Harbour on August 19. Registration, event times, and other information are available at jewelleryfair.com.au.
