The latest collection from high-end jeweller Cerrone uses unusual and rare, semi-precious gemstones that it believes are becoming increasingly desirable to consumers.
Cerrone owner and jewellery designer Nicola Cerrone said it is becoming increasingly important for designers to use semi-precious and rare stones in their jewellery as a way to attract consumers.
“Customers in today’s market are savvy shoppers and travel overseas and as such they are always looking for unique stones and exclusive designs.
“It is vital jewellers and designers create one-of-a-kind pieces that set them apart from their peers and use unusual stones to be proactive and cater to customers’ tastes and needs.”
Cerrone’s collection includes statement pieces such as a 140-carat Swiss blue topaz pendant and a lemon quartz and kunzite brooch necklace.
Spread across four ranges, it features unusual stones such as the Paraiba tourmaline, melanite, and tanzanite alongside pearls, Argyle pink diamonds and yellow diamonds.
The collection’s Paraiba tourmaline in particular is an extremely rare and precious variety of tourmaline, which was not discovered until the late 1980s in Brazil
The collection will be released to coincide with the launch of Cerrone’s new boutique on luxury-focused Castlereagh Street in Sydney.
Cerrone has three other stores, at Martin Place, Double Bay and Leichhardt in Sydney.
The store, due to open in November, will reflect the high standard of crasftmanship that Cerrone prides itself on. An intricate tile mosaic entrance will precede floor-to-ceiling windows, with a six-metre chandelier hanging above.
“The new store, like the other Cerrone boutiques, will be an extension of the brand’s focus on luxury and service. It provides the perfect environment for clients to explore the 2011 collection,” Cerrone said.
Light and space are two important concepts in the store’s design as Cerrone intends to create an open, transparent layout.
Carefully designed pockets of spaces are being implemented to allow customers to enjoy the jewellery in a relaxed and comfortable environment.
