The cushion brilliant-cut, internally flawless, fancy intense pink diamond returned $US10.8 million ($AU16.18 million), falling within the pre-sale estimate range.
Diamond manufacturer Diacore purchased the Pink Supreme. The auction generated more than $US63.1 million ($AU94.52 million) in sales.
Buyers were found for 89 of the 113 lots available, meaning 79 per cent of the items available were sold.
Yellow beauty
An unmounted 133-carat yellow diamond will be the star of the show at an upcoming Sotheby’s jewellery auction in New York.
The cushion-modified brilliant-cut fancy vivid yellow diamond is expected to return $US5 million ($AU7.49 million) at the 5 December auction.
The auction will also include the sale of 21 items from the collection of US actress Mary Tyler Moore.
Proceeds from that sale will go to The Mary Tyler Moore Initiative, a charity dedicated to combatting health issues experienced by people with diabetes.
