The GIA Jewelry Report offers a comprehensive description of the submitted jewellery, including metal verification and ranges for the clarity, colour, and carat weight of D-to-Z diamonds without previous reports.
If the diamonds have existing report numbers, the specific grades will be detailed on the report, which will include a link to GIA's Report Check for further verification.
The GIA Jewelry Report also includes details of gemstone characteristics, current markings, and existing engravings.
Tom Moses, the GIA’s chief laboratory officer, said this new service aligns with the mission to protect consumers and uphold the integrity of the gemstone and jewellery industry.
“This service is an extension of GIA’s ongoing commitment to ensure consumer confidence and trust in jewellery,” he said.
Add-on services, such as a 360-degree video of the jewellery, will be available for an additional fee. All report numbers for the GIA Jewelry Report will be alphanumeric for the unique and secure identification of each piece.
Earlier this year, the GIA started offering printed versions of American Gem Society (AGS) Ideal Reports and introduced a same-day report verification program to help tackle diamond fraud.
