Ferla began his career at Richemont in 2001 as a sales manager in Hong Kong. He joined Cartier in 2006 and held various roles in the Middle East, India, Africa, and China.
In 2017, Ferla became CEO of the watch brand Vacheron Constantin. He will now succeed Cyrille Vigneron, who plans to retire on 1 September after eight years in the role.
“[Ferla] has earned the admiration and respect of his colleagues across the group, and of the industry at large for having so brilliantly positioned Vacheron Constantin at the pinnacle of haute horlogerie,” said Richemont chairman Johann Rupert.
“His experience and leadership qualities will prove invaluable for Cartier’s long-term success.”
Richemont has also appointed Catherine Rénier as CEO of Van Cleef & Arpels, succeeding Nicolas Bos. In her new role, which begins on 1 September, Rénier will report to Bos, who is taking over as CEO of Richemont.
“She brings the perfect mix of experience and leadership skills to the role, which, coupled with her deep knowledge of the maison [brand], will enable her to ensure Van Cleef & Arpels’s long-term success,” said Bos.
Rénier joined the company in 1999, working as a director for Cartier in the US before joining Van Cleef & Arpels as a manager. In 2018, she worked for Jaeger-LeCoultre.
