Sydney Fair: $5,000 prize on offer for jewellery retailers

Visitors at the upcoming Sydney Fair will have the chance to win a consultancy package that may transform their business.

The International Jewellery Fair will take place at the International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour on 17-19 August.

Retail Edge Consultants will be one of more than 140 exhibitors at the event. As part of a promotion, the company is offering one lucky visitor a four-month consulting package valued at $5,000.

General manager Leon van Megen said the company was experiencing significant changes, with a renewed emphasis on hands-on business guidance.

“The Sydney Fair is a really important opportunity for us every year. It’s really exciting to get the chance to reconnect with so many of our clients face-to-face,” he told Jeweller.

“We’re going to be providing some fascinating snippets of the new software products we plan to launch in 2025. When it comes to our Business Consulting programme, we’ve taken on a lot of new and exciting clients lately, and it’s a good chance for us to share the recent changes at our company with visitors.”

The Business Consulting promotion addresses five critical areas within jewellery retail: financial management, inventory, staffing, business growth opportunities, and leadership and self-management.

Retail Edge publishes an aggregated analysis of sales and inventory data collected from more than 400 independent jewellery stores each month.

The latest report detailed a notable decline in sales in June and van Megen said visitors should be well prepared for an event like the Sydney Fair to make the most of the second half of year – including the all-important holiday period.

“In my experience, far too many retailers head to the fair without a clear plan. Visitors are either ‘guns blazing’ or too cautious because they haven’t planned in advance,” he said.

“That comes down to studying your financials thoroughly so you’re aware of how the core categories within your business are performing."

He continued: “When you’ve got that knowledge on hand, you’re able to make informed and effective decisions and eliminate any confusion surrounding the direction of your business.”

Entering the competition is simple – retailers can visit the Retail Edge Consultants stand at the Sydney Fair in person to register, or email kim@retailedgeconsultants.com in advance. Can’t make it to the fair? Retailers can book an online meeting.
