These gold and silver coins are available in different sizes and denominations, with further releases scheduled in the lead-up to the Lunar New Year in January.
Each new addition to the Australian Lunar Series III celebrates one of the 12 animal signs in the zodiac. The most recent collection was designed by Perth Mint artist Sean Rogers.
“I have tried to express many facets of the snake’s traits within the design, from its mystery and magnetism to its assertiveness,” he said.
“I also wanted to show it as an alert, intelligent, and perceptive creature - character traits that those born under its influence would easily identify with.”
He added: “These coins are packaged in beautifully illustrated shippers featuring the wise and intelligent snake which can be displayed alongside shippers from previous issues in this series to create a diorama depicting all 12 auspicious animals of the Great Race.”
The 2025 Year of the Snake coins will be available in strictly limited mintage. In August, the Perth Mint released eight limited edition collector gold and pink diamond coins featuring a sea turtle as the seventh instalment in the Masterpiece Series.
