CEO Virginia C. Drosos will retire in early November and be replaced by James Symancyk from PetSmart, a chain of more than 1,600 stores.
Drosos joined Signet’s board in 2012 and became CEO in 2017. She has overseen several key rebranding projects and acquisitions, including James Allen (2017) and Blue Nile (2022).
She said it had been an honour to serve the company and that now was the right time for a transition. Chair of the board of directors Helen McCluskey added that her time as CEO was defined by significant change.
“As CEO, Gina led Signet in its transformation journey with strategic clarity, disciplined decision-making and a purpose-driven mindset,” she said.
“Under her leadership, in the last five years, the company expanded its market share by nearly 50 per cent and significantly grew its digital presence.”
Earlier this year, Drosos discussed an increased interest in fashion jewellery for the company, which operates around 2,700 stores. Signet also addressed changes in strategy around lab-created diamonds and recycled gold.
