Brady was a quarterback in the NFL from 2000 until 2022 and is considered code's greatest player of all time by many.
Hosted by Sotheby's, the auction was titled ‘The GOAT Collection: Watches and Treasures from Tom Brady.’
All 41 lots at the auction were sold, generating more than $USD9 million ($AUD14.17 million) in sales. The luxury watches returned more than $USD4.5 million ($AUD7.08 million).
Among the items of interest was a Rolex Daytona Paul Newman John Player Special, which returned $USD1.1 million ($AUD1.7 million), comfortably exceeding its presale estimate.
Richard Lopez, Sotheby's senior specialist of watches, said it was pleasing to see the auction generate significant interest.
“It has been a once-in-a-lifetime privilege for all of us at Sotheby’s to celebrate the legend that is Tom Brady,” he said.
“To have had the opportunity to work directly with him, showcasing some of his most prized possessions from his football career, as well as a collection of watches that have been a meaningful part of his personal journey—pieces he loved and lived with—has been truly unforgettable.”
Another popular watch was an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak with Brady’s name and Roman numerals indicating his number of Super Bowl victories. This watch returned $USD720,000 ($AUD1.13 million).
More than 800 people participated in the auction.
