Dialog was founded in 2020 by Itay Ariel, Reut Rothstein, and Aaron Ariel and is the world’s first ‘subscription service’ for jewellery retailers.
Retailers subscribe to Dialog for an amount of diamond and diamond jewellery, carefully selected from Dialog’s inventory.
Retailers pay a monthly subscription fee based on the amount of inventory that a retailer selects. Dialog then provides between $100,000 and $5 million in stock/inventory – loose stones and finished jewellery - which the retailer holds.
A new Australian division of HRA Group was established in Australia and headed by director of sales, Nicole Bender. She said that at the end of a productive first year, the supplier was thrilled with its evolving position in the local market.
“The response from local retailers has been very positive. We have expanded exponentially since launching in Australia twelve months ago, which is fantastic," she told Jeweller.
“We started with existing customers, but word of mouth has really facilitated our growth organically. We’ve been incredibly happy with the feedback and interest in Dialog to date.”
She added: “Much of the feedback has been that Dialog addresses many of the pain points retailers face daily - such as having the right inventory in-store when their customers walk in - and has allowed them to grow their diamond business.”
As the industry heads towards a new year, Dialog has introduced a series of new initiatives that were developed with a retailer's challenges in mind. Among them is a repair service, with the company’s Toronto facility now offering a full suite of diamond recutting and repair options.
“Another benefit that we’re finding Australian retailers connect with is how Dialog gives them the freedom to try something new, like larger diamonds, that they otherwise would have been reluctant to purchase,” Bender explained.
“They are free to merchandise their stores with a perfectly curated inventory for them without having to invest any capital. Working with a company that has an inventory of consistent quality is very beneficial because they know they’ll be happy with the product when it arrives.”
Bender said that collaborating with other industry suppliers to expand the assortment of products available on the platform would be a critical focus for the supplier moving forward.
“The long-term vision for Dialog in Australia is to establish Dialog and our innovative subscription model as a recognised, industry supply channel for all diamond and diamond jewellery merchandising needs,” she added.
Dialog owns all inventory/stock and is not a third-party aggregator, with a six-month trial available. If the service doesn’t fit the business during the trial, the diamonds are returned, and subscription fees are refunded to the retailer.
