The 60-year-old actor has appeared in films and television over the past four decades, best known for his leading roles in The Matrix and John Wick.
In December 2023, the Los Angeles home of Reeves was burglarised. Among the items stolen was a Rolex Submariner watch engraved with the actor’s first name.
More than one year later, police in Chile have announced the recovery of several luxury items during a police operation linked to a series of local robberies in Santiago.
Among the items recovered during raids on four properties was a watch “belonging to a famous actor who was victim of a robbery in Los Angeles in December 2023.”
“Call it a case of life imitating art: the John Wick franchise kicks off when a retired hitman, played by Reeves, is targeted by burglars who break into his house, steal his car, and kill his dog,” writes Abby Montanez of Robb Report.
“In the years since the four films were released, the cult-favourite series has grossed over $USD1 billion worldwide and became the basis of a new spinoff starring Ana de Armas, which is slated to premiere in 2025.”
According to reporting by CNN, cooperation between local police and US authorities led to the watches being identified and the arrest of a 21-year-old man.
