A 21-year-old suspect has been arrested in Chiang Mai’s Mueang district in northern Thailand after stalking a jewellery store for three days.
As reported by The Independent, the thief hid inside a store in a shopping centre, donning a Ghostface mask from the film Scream (1996) to conceal his identity.
Once the shopping centre closed, the thief used a metal bar to force open the entrance of a nearby jewellery store, pulling an iron gate shut behind him as he entered.
The 21-year-old snatched several gold necklaces and returned to the gate, only to discover that it would not open and that he was trapped inside the store.
The suspect desperately searched for an alternative way to escape; however, he was forced to spend the night in the store, awaiting his eventual arrest.
Jewellery store staff discovered the hapless thief when they arrived for work the following day. They kept him locked inside the store until police arrived and made an arrest.
