Chamilia's Make-a-Wish bead
Chamilia launches Make-A-Wish bead
Posted November 01, 2012 | By Coleby Nicholson
Chamilia is helping children’s wishes come true by launching an
exclusive “Wish” bead that benefits directly the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Made from sterling silver and adorned with electric blue Swarovski crystal elements, the ”Wish” bead is more than just a beautiful piece: Chamilia is donating $20 to Make-A-Wish for each bead sold to help fund the charity’s work with children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
The bead has a RRP of $75 and will be sold only through Australian participating retailers.
Chamilia general manager Mike Russell said the support for Make-A-Wish was a global initiative by the company and that Australia would be supporting the local arm of the charity. He explained that Chamilia Australia and UK would be first to market the new bead and countries would soon follow suit.
“Our US headquarters in Minneapolis has been working with the global Make-A-Wish charity to form a worldwide partnership. We think it’s a great idea and we’re happy to support it here in Australia,” he said.
Russell expected 1,200 beads in total would be available to stores in Australia. If all were sold the donation to Make-A-Wish would be $24,000. Regardless of the number sold, Chamilia has guaranteed the charity of minimum of $14,500.
Russell said the Wish beads are a limited edition and any excess stock would be drawn from stores at the end of February 2013.
Since 1985, Make-A-Wish Australia, a non-profit organisation, has granted more than 7,000 wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions, giving them hope, strength and joy at a time when they need them most. On average, Make-A-Wish grants almost two wishes each working day.
Make-A-Wish receives no ongoing government funding and is critically reliant on the generous support of individuals and organisations.
