Reward offered to solve local jewellery heist

Police are offering a $100,000 reward in a bid to track down two gun-wielding men that robbed a Melbourne-based jewellery store two years ago.
The heist occurred as two female staff members were setting up for the day.

CCTV footage has been re-released which shows one man – carrying flowers and disguised as a florist – forcing his way inside the store and pushing one of the workers to the ground. He then puts on a balaclava and produces a gun.

Seconds later, the shop’s security camera shows an accomplice entering the store on High Street in Thornbury and taking jewellery from a display cabinet.

According to reports, the first man is believed to be aged between 45 and 55, about 175cm tall with a solid build and grey-coloured hair. The other robber is thought be about 20-30 years old with dark-coloured hair.

The jewellery store has since closed and police report that one of the staff members is yet to return to work and is having ongoing counselling.

Anyone in the jewellery industry with information should contact Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
