Watches to delight Ferrari fans

Watch supplier GDL Accessories has added the Ferrari Scuderia name,
synonymous with Formula One racing, alongside its ranges of Hugo Boss,
Lacoste, Speedo and Kenneth Cole timepieces.
The famous “prancing horse” logo is easily distinguishable on the watch faces which incorporate the highly recognisable colours of Ferrari red, yellow and black.
“In 2013, Ferrari was the most recognised brand, ahead of Apple at number two,” GDL marketing executive Mel Carey told Jeweller.
“I think they will really fly off the shelves because the brand is so aspirational.” Carey joked that buying one of the new branded watches could be the closest most people would come to owning a Ferrari.
GDL secured the Australian distrubution rights in May at BaselWorld and the new watches landed in Australia just one month ago. The range comprises 40 different models with varying price points from $179 up to $850 and they are sure to prove popular around Grand Prix time in Australia and throughout the Formula One racing season.
“The watches also have cool names and the Japanese movements are called engines,” Carey explained, adding that the Ferrari timepieces are a perfect fit for GDL who “sells brands, image and lifestyle”.
For retailers, another marketing tool could be the great Ferrari boxes that accompany the watches.
