Ice-Watch became a premium partner of BMW Motorsport in DTM racing – Europe’s premier saloon car racing series – in mid-2013, and the watch collaboration stems from this partnership.
The collection has been designed and signed by Belgian designer Pierre Leclercq and will be available in the local market in April.
Larry Porter, CEO of Ice-Watch's local supplier Bolt International, said he was excited by the potential of the range.
“The customer base is obviously skewed to BMW and BMW Motorsport fans, which traditionally have a stronger men’s following. While BMW Motorsport has a loyal and very large fan base, the design has been so well received that men are buying based on the aesthetics.”
Porter told Jeweller that the collection was previously only available in Europe, but due to its success, it had now been extended globally, excluding China, Hong Kong and Turkey.
Locally, Porter said he had already received “significant interest from retailers and consumers alike”.
“The collaboration emphasises the quality of our timepieces and our brand accessibility,” he explained.
The collection features a navy blue, red and white dial, a chronograph, and a tri-coloured band. It will be available in 10 different models in various sizes and colours, with all models offering water resistance of ten ATM.
