The company’s latest record-setter is a 3-carat, K coloured round brilliant-cut synthetic diamond, with SI1 clarity.
This is not the first time Pure Grown Diamonds has stated that it has developed the world’s largest synthetic diamond. In April last year it was said to have created a 1.29-carat E coloured, VVS2 emerald-cut diamond, which was then trumped by a 1.78-carat, G coloured, SI1 clarity princess-cut stone in November.
The company’s newly appointed president and CEO Lisa Bissell said, “We are ecstatic to once again celebrate technology and innovation in grown diamonds. It is very gratifying to break our own records and reach the 3-carat milestone.”

Bissell’s appointment coincided with a recent rebranding of the company, which involved changing its trading name from Gemesis to Pure Grown Diamonds. At the time, Bissell stated that the new name “reinforces our commitment to disclosure and transparency”.
In a media statement, the company further added that it “has made steady advancements in the field of grown diamonds, in size, colour, and clarity” since 2013, and that “in the nearly 60 years since the first diamonds were grown, the technology used to create diamonds has seen significant and positive growth”.
Pure Grown Diamonds is a supplier of colourless and fancy coloured lab-created diamonds. It also manufactures synthetic diamond jewellery.
