The Sydney-based supplier unveiled its latest concept, Your Script, via an online launch event on Friday 17 October.
The process uses a combination of a computer scanning program and laser, negating the need for hand engraving and copying. Documents, signatures, handwriting and drawings are reportedly suitable.
Uberkate founder Kate Sutton said that the business was the first in Australia to offer this kind of service, and explained that she had drawn inspiration from her own experiences for the concept.
“Your Script was conceived when my husband created a cuff for me for our 10th wedding anniversary which was deeply engraved in his own handwriting with the words of a song he had written for me,” she said. “It was the most incredible and emotional gift I have ever received and I really wanted to be able to create the same experience for my clients.”
She added that Your Script could be applied to almost any Uberkate design, including rings, cuffs and pendants. A number of new designs had also been introduced to complement the service.
A collective social media launch
Sutton said conducting an online launch event for the concept meant that the brand was able to reach more than 100,000 people.
Uberkate ran a week-long countdown to the release with the aim of generating excitement and intrigue amongst its social media following, before finally announcing the new service on Friday across Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Google+.
“With so many retailers and consumers all around the country we felt that having a more collective approach to the launch would be more authentic and that way everyone could be involved,” Sutton explained.
A downloadable form is available from the Uberkate website for retailers to use when recording a customer’s handwritten design. Alternatively, people can directly upload an existing handwritten message or create a new one through the website.
