Pantone 2015 autumn jewellery trend guide

Pantone has released 10 autumn shades – described as being “androgynous” in nature – set to influence jewellery trends this coming season.

The globally recognised colour expert, Pantone, has once again collaborated with fashion designers from New York Fashion Week to choose the colour trends of autumn 2015.

The colour palette draws inspiration from nature and is said to be driven by the appreciation of warmth and security. The designers have paid homage to progressive moments in American history such as the seductive 1920s and the bohemian hippies and modernists of the 1960s and 1970s.

Commenting on the evolution of the trend forecast, Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone Color Institute executive director, said, “The Fall 2015 palette is rooted in multi-faceted, androgynous colors that can be worn to portray effortless sophistication across men’s and women’s fashion. It is the first time we are seeing a truly unisex color palette.”

Moving away from the bright and unconventional 2014 palette, Pantone this year presents a natural and rustic range of hues aimed to appeal to both men and women. Rich in earthy neutrals, the spectrum also includes bold statement shades that add a brave explosion of colour.

The top 10 colours for autumn 2015

The cool and soothing greenish-grey called Desert Sage is said to serve as the ideal neutral tone across the entire new season palette. Similarly, Stormy Weather is a dependable blue-grey that is strong and powerful.

Oak Buff is a mellow, comforting shade of golden-yellow, aimed to bring a sense of cheer and happiness. Meanwhile, Dried Herb is a sophisticated olive green, closely related to nature.

Pantone’s colour of the year, Marsala, is an earthy red-brown. The rich and robust hue is reportedly interesting when worn on its own or a wonderful contrast to other shades.

Biscay Bay is an elegant teal that provides a cool splash against the other heated tones. Combining the calm shades of blue and green, the colour is lush and confident.

Inspired by the 1960s and 1970s, Cadmium Orange is optimistic and full of fantasy. Playful yet stylish, the warm colour is a dramatic statement. Likewise, Cashmere Rose is a luxurious soft pink that is persuasive and rich.

Serious, stable and secure, Reflecting Pond, is a cooling blue that adds intrigue and dimension to the overall colour palette. Contrastingly, Amethyst Orchid is a vibrant purple that is unique, creative and bold.

Providing insight into upcoming trends for more than 20 years, Pantone’s forecasts assist jewellery retailers in predicting the colours that their customers will be coveting in the months ahead.
