Carson Webb, general manager of Showcase parent company, JIMACO, has been appointed to the role effective immediately.
As previously reported by Jeweller, Showcase was led by Michael Mishevski until June 2014 when he was asked to step aside while an investigation was conducted into JIMACO’s operations. One month later, Mishevski announced his resignation, stating he had decided it was “time for a change”.
Webb has been acting in the position of CEO since Mishevski stepped down, and the recent appointment acknowledges and formalises his role within the buying group.
JIMACO chairman George Proszkowiec said Webb, who joined the company in 2011, had been appointed to the role following a comprehensive executive search and strategic review of JIMACO’s internal structures.
“His [Webb’s] broad experience continues to be invaluable to the ongoing growth of JIMACO and its shareholders,” Proszkowiec commented.
Webb said he was delighted and honoured by the appointment. “[Representing Showcase] members across Australia and New Zealand is a fabulous opportunity for me and one I take very seriously.”
He was also positive about the buying group’s future, particularly in regards to its diamond brands.
“Showcase recently signed an agreement with Rio Tinto and their manufacturing house to further develop our Australian brand, Dreamtime Diamonds. This is very exciting and exclusive to Showcase,” he said.
“We are also the proud owner of the Passion8 brand which is going to be amazing. With our own diamond specialist in-house and talented team of staff and members, the future is very exciting indeed.”
Representing 288 member stores, Showcase is Australia and New Zealand’s second largest jewellery buying group.
