Fake Tiffany pieces seized
Posted January 18, 2010 |
Customs officers uncovered a shipment of 10,000 pieces of fake Tiffany jewellery.
The stash, potentially worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, arrived from China. It included counterfeit watches, necklaces, bracelets, cufflinks, key rings and other items, according to a report on Perth Now.
The shipment aroused suspicion for the freight forwarding company, as the many packages that contained the Tiffany brand were to be dispatched to a large number of addresses.
This led the company to alert customs officers.
According to a spokesman from Perth Customs, the significant shipment would have been sold to unknowing customers, thinking they were getting genuine products.
At the time of publication, Tiffany had not decided whether to pursue civil action.
