High profile Irish-based Waterford Crystal, known for producing crystal products such as glasses and bowls, is debuting its jewellery range Down Under, appointing Nordic Jewellery as the local distributors.
The jewellery collection first launched at the company’s House of Waterford store in Ireland in August 2015 and due to its “phenomenal” performance where almost 5,000 pieces were reportedly sold in six months, a decision was made to make the offering available to multi-branded retail stores in Ireland and the UK.
The business has now identified Australia and New Zealand as its next market, with the US expected to shortly follow.
Nordic Jewellery managing partner Peter Jakobsen said these regions were targeted because the crystal arm of the business already had “huge success”.
“We were honoured to be chosen to distribute this stunning collection here in Australia and New Zealand, and are in awe of the global appreciation of the Waterford brand, with over 200 years of history and heritage connected to Waterford,” Jakobsen added.
He explained that Nordic became aware of the collection following its launch in Ireland and arranged to see the jewellery range at the JCK Las Vegas trade show in May.
“We were really impressed with the products in the collection. That, along with the great price-points and the Waterford heritage, made it a really easy decision for Nordic. We were delighted that Waterford felt we were the right partners for Australia,” Jakobsen said.
Waterford Crystal’s jewellery line contains fifty pieces in a variety of finishes, ranging in price from $99 to $300. Each piece is made in sterling silver and features cubic zirconia.
The collection is said to contain both contemporary and classical elements, retaining the “integrity and identity” of past and present Waterford designs. All pieces carry Waterford’s seahorse symbol hallmarked by the Assay Office in Dublin Castle, Ireland.
Nordic Jewellery’s other brands include Crysalis and Endless Jewelry. Jakobsen confirmed Nordic Jewellery had the distribution rights for Waterford jewellery only and that distribution of crystal products was still managed by Waterford in Asia.
