The matter was brought to attention on 26 February with a statement made on the WA Police Facebook page. The post included images of the items, including watches, rings, bracelets and necklaces, and a request for the public to help identify the jewellery.
A WA Police spokesperson confirmed to Jeweller that detectives conducted a search warrant on the jewellery store, which is located in Perth’s CBD.
“Police seized the entire contents of the store and it is alleged the jewellery was stolen,” the spokesperson said.
“The investigation is ongoing, and at this time we are not providing any further details. We are hoping members of the public can assist us in identifying the owners of the jewellery,” they added.
According to multiple reports, one man was charged with several offences in relation to the incident.
While no more details have been released, one comment on the WA Police Facebook page indicated that it was unknown when the alleged thefts took place.
The public was encouraged to view the photos on the WA Police Facebook page and contact police if they recognised the items.
