Disney Couture has released a Beauty and the Beast collection to coincide with the premiere of the story’s live-action remake, starring Emma Watson as Belle.
The range is called ‘Until the last petal falls’ and was launched in February. It features 14-carat rose, yellow and white gold-plated pieces, with items highlighting the narrative’s iconic rose and characters. Necklaces and bracelets also showcase popular phrases such as ‘Beauty lies within’.
According to Disney Couture managing director Michael Tran, the latest movie provided an ideal opportunity for the supplier and retail stockists to leverage the renewed love of the story.
“The live-action retelling of Beauty and the Beast is so hotly anticipated, it makes sense to be a part of this hysteria,” he said, adding that feedback from retailers had been ‘immensely positive’.
“It has been the most successful collection launch for Disney Couture after just one month in the global market, so it could be said that sales in this category will surpass previous launches, including that during the time of Alice Through the Looking Glass.”
Tran explained that the range was particularly popular among the 18 to 35-year-old female demographic.
"They all have in common a passion for Disney, the magic, the romance and the joy it brings…” he said.
The designs
In addition to Disney Couture, other jewellery brands have been delving into the fantasy.
Swarovski has released new pieces in time for the movie’s release, all featuring the iconic red rose, while a Disney range from Chopard also features some glistening items from the tale.
