A Les Georgettes Australian subsidiary business is set to open this year

Duraflex ceases Les Georgettes jewellery distribution

Duraflex Group Australia (DGA) will cease distribution of Les Georgettes next month following news that the French jewellery company will establish a subsidiary business in Australia.

The move, announced by DGA last week, will come into effect on 1 June 2017.

“Although DGA have had an extremely positive experience with the brand, Les Georgettes have made the decision to set up a stand-alone subsidiary business in Australia,” a DGA media statement read.

As previously reported by Jeweller, DGA secured the Australian and New Zealand distribution rights for the brand in 2016, launching the collection at the Sydney International Jewellery Fair in August the same year.

The Les Georgettes range is designed and manufactured in Paris, and offers another take on customisable jewellery with metal bangles consisting of reversible – and interchangeable – leather band insets.

According to DGA, Les Georgettes would maintain relationships with existing jewellery retail stockists, and DGA would continue supporting retailers until the 1 June.

“DGA fully support the decision of Les Georgettes to set up a stand-alone subsidiary business in Australia and we will work closely with the Les Georgettes team to ensure a smooth transition,” DGA owner and managing director Philip Edwards said.

Details of the location and person responsible for the Les Georgettes local subsidiary business were not confirmed at the time of publication.

Les Georgettes is a joint collaboration between French jewellery manufacturer Altesse and leather product manufacturer Texier. It has acquired stockists in more than 20 countries since launching in November 2015.

DGA distributes a number of watch and jewellery brands including Thomas Sabo, Nikki Lissoni, Sekonda and Jag.
