Les Georgettes finds new home in Australia

Following news that Duraflex Group Australia (DGA) ceased distribution of Les Georgettes, it has been announced that Nordic Jewellery will represent the French jewellery range in Australia and New Zealand.

Les Georgettes is part of the Renaissance Luxury Group and an industry statement outlined that an Australian subsidiary business, Renaissance Luxury Australia, had been established.

It added that Nordic Jewellery would “lead the launch”, effective 1 June.

Renaissance Luxury Group international vice president Frederic Brunel Acquaviva said the decision to form an Australian subsidiary was part of a long-term distribution strategy.

“For us, Australia is one of our key markets, and this is an important step of a long-term plan to set up our own subsidiary and ensure the future growth of our brand Les Georgettes,” Brunel Acquaviva said.

According to the statement, subsidiary businesses had also been established in the US, Germany, UK, Italy, Hong Kong, China and Japan.

Nordic Jewellery managing director Anders Glaesel said he was “honoured” to have been selected to represent the range locally.

“We believe there is a great deal of potential as the Les Georgettes brand has brought a unique concept worldwide, allowing every woman to design and customise her jewellery to complement her personal, unique style,” Glaesel said.

As previously reported by Jeweller, DGA announced last month that it would end distribution of Les Georgettes because of the French company’s decision to form a subsidiary business in Australia.

DGA secured the local distribution rights in 2016, launching the collection at the Sydney International Jewellery Fair in August the same year.

Les Georgettes, which is a joint collaboration between French jewellery manufacturer Altesse and leather product manufacturer Texier, offers another take on customisable jewellery with interchangeable leather bangle insets.
