A new collection by Fabuleux Vous is set to be launched to the local market in March
A new collection by Fabuleux Vous is set to be launched to the local market in March

Local supplier trots into horse inspired jewellery

In a move expected to provide a point of difference in the local market, New Zealand supplier Fabuleux Vous has collaborated with two renowned equestrians on a jewellery range inspired by horses.

The collection, named ‘Breeze’ after a champion racing horse, is a collaboration between accomplished equestrians Greg Smith and Corey Miln, Fabuleux Vous director Helen Thompson-Carter told Jeweller.

“I have known Greg and Corey for more than 12 months now and [the partnership] came up in conversation due to Greg’s strong fashion background,” Thompson-Carter said.

“When extensively researching the global market, what we found was much of the same – mostly the ‘cut out figurine’ type jewellery, like a horseshoe or a horse’s head.

“Both Greg and Corey took a real interest in Fabuleux Vous and loved the fact we were so design driven and determined to bring to market products that were different, with quality and the right price. The concept was therefore born,” she added.

The Breeze collection consists of pieces for men and women and is crafted from 925 sterling silver. Items include necklaces, pendants, cuff links, tie slides, stud earrings and disc charm bracelets.

“The Breeze range connects horse lovers with champions – Greg, Corey and Breeze – and has a wide appeal across age groups,” Thompson-Carter added. “This fills a gap and attracts another ‘community’ into local retailer’s stores; online or physically.”

Local benefits

Jewellery retailers will also be provided with point of sale material to assist in promoting awareness and sales.

“The collection comes with posters, gift bags and pouches, as well as stunning in store display dominated by white and navy. We are also working on video content with Greg, Cory and Breeze. This content will make the product feel ‘real’ and all retailers will have access,” she added.

When asked what pieces are anticipated to be particularly popular, Thompson-Carter made note of the “everyday wear” appeal of the necklace and stud earrings. She also pointed out that the charm bracelets would prove to be favourable, as the disc charms can be engraved “with your horses name or with a personal message”.

“We have already presold to a number of retailers in New Zealand and Australia and have a growing interest in Europe and the US,” Thompson-Carter added.

As well as being available from Fabuleux Vous, the Breeze collection will be purchasable through select equine retailers, and Smith and Miln’s joint business GC Equestrian.

The collection will be launched at New Zealand’s renowned equestrian event ‘Horse of the Year’ which runs from 13 – 18 March and to retailers from 15 March.
