The three seminars are titled:
• Lab grown (synthetic) vs natural – the diamond shift
• Rent is killing my business
• Branded vs non branded – a consumer view
The first seminar will focus on the consumer’s shift in perception surrounding synthetic and natural diamonds. It will also involve a panel discussion, with a representative from of the world’s largest synthetic diamond laboratories in the world, a valuer and a leading diamond retailer.
The ‘rent is killing my business’ seminar will discuss topics such as future insights on leasing trends, how to negotiate better deals and how to break current arrangements where possible.
The ‘branded vs non branded’ workshop will focus on consumers changing perceptions on branded and non branded jewellery, emerging buying habits and how retailers can capitalise on sales accordingly.
Managing director of Expertise Events Gary Fitz-Roy said retailers would benefit from attending the discussions.
“There are a number of important challenges facing the jewellery industry and it’s important that they are not only recognised but openly discussed and debated,” Fitz-Roy said. “We have focused on the three biggest issues facing jewellers, and we’re assembling experts in the field and tackling it front on.
“If a retailer is serious about the future of the industry and their success, these will be a must attend because one small valuable insight could be worth its weight in gold,” he added.
The 2018 IJF will be held at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour, Sydney from 25 to 27 August.
