Hosted again in Mumbai, the programme that will run 8-10 October aims to match the first event which saw 1,000 international visitors and 150 Indian diamond dealers visit on the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB).
BDB vice-president Mehul Shah said he hoped the success of the initial event would pave the way for future events in the Indian diamond industry.
“The first edition of the inter-bourse show proved to be enormously successful. We want to build on that and take the show to the next level with more exhibitors and visitors. Our aim is to provide maximum exposure for our small and medium-sized companies,” he said.
BDB president Anoop Mehta agreed, stating: “The Bharat Diamond Week puts buyers directly in touch with suppliers in a convenient setting, saving time and expenses. We will be announcing further details in the coming weeks.”
The April event provided guests and exhibitors opportunities to network and attend professional industry seminars. Synthetic screening technology was demonstrated alongside seminars that discussed advancements in the blockchain industry, grading workshops and melee analysis.
Diamond industry stakeholders’ testimonials claimed it as “an excellent networking platform. Osia Gems dealer Ashish Gandhi stressed that the event provided guests with a prime opportunity to network within the sector.
“It is purely a show for loose diamonds and therefore the entire focus would be on promoting loose diamond manufacturers in the country,” Gandhi said.
The BDB Diamond Week will trigger a busy month for the international jewellery industry. India will host the World Diamond Congress from 23 to 25 October. In Columbia, the World Emerald Symposium will run from 12-14 October, while another Bharat Diamond Week will be hosted in New York from 29-31 October.
