A man has been charged after police seized $200,000 worth of stolen jewellery from a Perth store

Police seize $200,000 in suspected stolen jewellery at Perth store

WA Police have raided a second-hand jewellery shop in West Perth, which was believed to be stocked with stolen goods.

Detectives seized nearly 1,000 precious items – including rings, necklaces, bracelets, pendants, earrings, watches and charms – valued at more than $200,000, as well as a retractable baton, from the premises, which were located in an arcade off the popular Hay Street shopping district.

A further search of a residential address connected to the business uncovered more jewellery as well as paperwork related to the business.

The owner, a 36-year-old man from the suburb of Thornlie, has had his second-hand dealer license cancelled and been charged with laundering property/money from the proceeds of a major offence and possessing a prohibited weapon.

He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on 2 May.

If you suspect your stolen jewellery may be among the property seized, follow the instructions here.
