Last week, BDB president Anoop Mehta and vice-president Mehul Shah signed an attendance agreement with Porntiva Nakasai, president Thai Gem & Jewelry Traders Association, and Somchai Phornchindarak, president Jewelry & Precious Metal Confederation of Thailand.
"The agreements signed with the professional organisations from Thailand are the latest step in ensuring we have an excellent number of visitors to the Bharat Diamond Week," Mehta said. "I am delighted that our friends and colleagues from Thailand, who we know so well, will be taking part in the BDW."
The news comes shortly after the BDB’s successful visit to the Shanghai Diamond Exchange (SDE), where Mehta and Shah met with SDE president Lin Qiang who will be guest of honour at Bharat Diamond Week.
"It is very important that we work with organisations from across the diamond and jewellery world. Our aim is to raise visitor numbers at every show and to learn from the previous event how to be even more successful for the benefit of our small and medium-size company members,” Shah said.
The BDB also confirmed that the number of company and individual registrations for the Bharat Diamond Week – which will be held form 14–16 October at the BDB premises in Mumbai – has already exceeded those from the previous two Diamond Weeks, held last year.
Registrations are still open for the event and selected international buyers will be provided with complementary hotel accommodation, with priority given to members of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses.
