Nationwide continues apprenticeship support scheme

Buying group Nationwide Jewellers is continuing its financial support for jewellery apprentices through the 2020 Apprentice Assistance Scheme.

Now in its 11th year, the scheme offers apprentices the choice between a $500 tool voucher or $400 cash. The voucher is subsidised by Australian Jewellers Supplies in Australia and G A Warburtons in New Zealand.

Application forms to all Nationwide members across the two countries will be sent during January. Applications close on Friday 28 February 2020.

In addition to the Assistance Scheme, Nationwide also organises an Apprentice of the Year Award, with a prize valued at more than $1,000.

Entry forms for the competition will be sent in late June, with the winner announces at the International Jewellery & Watch Fair in September.

Colin Pocklington, managing director Nationwide, said, “As a major player in the jewellery industry, we recognise our obligation to support and encourage young people in enhancing their skills and experience.”

Over the last 16 years, Nationwide has provided more than $160,000 in support for jewellery apprentices.
