Users will be able to live stream product launch presentations through the Watches & Wonders website, with executives from brands including Baume & Mercier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Panerai, Ulysse Nardin, and Vacheron Constantin showcasing new models and collections.
The clips will then be available permanently on the site, which will be free to access and remain active throughout the year.
In addition to product presentations, users can also view discussions and analysis from watch experts, in-depth explorations of design and technical watch innovations, and learn about brands. E-commerce and ‘strategic partnerships’ with brands will also be included in the platform.
Fabienne Lupo, chairwoman and managing director FHH, said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with the finest watchmaking brands in the world to bring the Watches & Wonders concept to life online at a time when our industry needs it the most.
“This dynamic new platform will allow watch lovers everywhere to discover exciting new products, engage in enriching experiences and connect directly with our participating brands in one place.”
The Watches & Wonders announcement follows news that JCK Las Vegas – the largest jewellery show in the US – will also shift to an online model this year after cancelling its 2020 edition, which would have taken place in June.
Watches & Wonders Geneva was previously known as the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. It underwent a rebranding in October last year and announced a shift to include more consumer-focused activities before its cancellation in late February due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The show is scheduled to return to Geneva in April 2021, though exact dates are yet to be announced. The FHH is organising a separate, parallel event, also in Geneva next April, for Rolex, Tudor, Patek Philippe, Chopard and Chanel, following their defection from Baselworld.
