The Blue Books represent the most widely accepted set of rules and terminology for the international jewellery community. Previously, the Blue Books were available to download at a cost of CHF9.90 ($AU15.76) each or as a single package for CHF49.90 ($AU70.46).
Members of CIBJO-affiliated organisations, such as the Jewellers Association of Australia, have always been entitled to access the Blue Books free of charge.
Gaetano Cavalieri, president CIBJO, said, “Given the scale of the current crisis, this clearly is a modest gesture, but one that we are keen to make. Like so many other economic sectors, the jewellery business is largely at a standstill.
“But that is temporary, and when the markets begin moving again, we believe that progress will be supported by all members of our industry working in unison, with a common set of rules and practices. That is what the Blue Books promote.”
The Blue Books are updated annually by the CIBJO Commissions for each category, with standards developed by consensus from experts within each commission as well as externally.
CIBJO is also holding a series of webinars on the impact of the COVID-19 crisis. Registration information can be found on the CIBJO Facebook page.
