New safety initiatives announced for Sydney Jewellery Fair

Ahead of the International Jewellery & Watch Fair (IJWF) in September, organiser Expertise Events has announced a suite of new COVID-19 safety initiatives, including low-cost modular stands for exhibitors.

The Ready2Show modular stands are available in three sizes and have been developed with suppliers and contractors and can be customised to suit each exhibitor’s requirements and branding.

All stands accommodate social-distancing restrictions, and those with tables and benches will have the option of Perspex protection screens similar to those in use in many retail stores, and which can be retained by exhibitors after the show.

In addition to the new safety features, the cost of the stands has been reduced by 20–50 per cent.

Gary Fitz-Roy, managing director Expertise Events, said the modular stands offered a “cost-effective and flexible solution” that would not only reduce exhibiting costs, but also save time by ensuring full compliance with safety guidelines.

“This strategy not only saves exhibitors money, but it also helps us all manage the government’s – and the exhibition centre’s – COVID-19 rules because our strategy does all the work for you,” he said.

“[The stands] can be tailored to your individual requirements using a range of standard components that fit and work together to ensure maximum brand visibility. In addition, our partners can modify and create a stand of any size,” he added.

However, the stands are not the only COVID-19 safety feature that will be in place at the IJWF, which is scheduled to take place at the ICC Sydney exhibition centre on 12–14 September.

Fitz-Roy confirmed that the layout of the event has also been adapted, with wider aisle-ways and spacing – with additional seating – across the exhibition hall to reduce crowding and unnecessary contact.

Additionally, some of Expertise’s processes have been changed to reduce contact, with Fitz-Roy explaining, “The registration system and a buyer badge system will identify the level of comfort in how [the attendee] wishes to interact with other people.”

As previously announced, pre-registration and self-printing of identification badges will be permitted this year. While Expertise Events will still issue badge holders and lanyards to visitors, they will not be recycled.
