Diamond grading reports have been included for the first time, for both natural and lab-grown diamonds, with “specialty diamonds” – including unusual shapes, fancy colours, and salt-and-pepper diamonds – profiled in their own section.
The Notable Gemstones section profiles Stuller’s range of natural gemstones, including the ‘big three’ of ruby, sapphire, and emerald, as well as tanzanite, morganite, tourmaline, spinel, and “unusual gems” sourced to order, such as ‘speckled quartz’ and trapiche sapphire.
In order to assist jewellers in choosing complementary gemstones, the catalogue’s reference section features a detailed, annotated colour wheel.
Monthly and zodiac birthstones and traditional wedding anniversary gemstones, as well as a size comparison chart, have also been included for easy reference when serving customers.
Samantha Larson, director of gemstones at Stuller, said, “Being one of the largest suppliers of loose stones [in the US], we have a lot to show – but most importantly, we want to help our jewellers sell, which is what this book is all about: captivating imagery, easy to navigate, discrete pricing and references that you can take out and put where you need them, when you need.
“Our hope is that jewellers discover a unique shape, cut, or color that they did not know we supplied,” she added.
Reflecting the growing consumer interest in gemstone provenance and ethical purchasing, the catalogue includes a map displaying the countries from which Stuller sources rough and cut gemstones. The business previously introduced a selection of gemstones, titled ‘Earth to Market’, sourced exclusively from low-impact artisanal miners and with a transparent supply chain.
The US-based business, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2020, also serves a number of international markets, including Australia.
