The new store opened at the end of May in Perth’s Garden City Shopping Centre. It is Thomas Sabo’s first flagship store in Western Australia and its third in Australia.
Phil Edwards, director of the brand’s Australian distributor Duraflex, said that the new store is reporting “strong sales” which have set a “high standard” for future openings.
The brand’s new “Seasonal” jewellery collection has been “particularly popular”, according to Edwards, while Thomas Sabo watches have also sold “extremely well”.
The store covers 60 sq m and is located in the city’s largest shopping centre, 10 minutes south of the CBD.
Edwards said the location was selected due to the “high foot traffic” the centre received.
The European jewellery brand’s other Australian flagship stores are both located in New South Wales: at Sydney International Airport and in Sydney’s city centre Queen Victoria Building.
“The long-term strategy is to open stores in Melbourne and Brisbane,” according to Edwards, who said that there was no fixed timeframe for the opening of these stores, which “very much depends on us identifying a premium location that fits the brand”.
He said there were “no other stores planned at this stage” and explained that the limited number of openings was part of a strategy to “maintain the exclusive nature of Thomas Sabo”.
“Further stores would only be considered on a strictly limited case by case basis,” he added.
