This year, common sense has prevailed, with the two jewellery fairs now five weeks apart, with Jewellery Industry Fair moving to a later date. While the new schedule is good news, questions remain about the motives behind the change and its long-term impact.

Despite JIF describing the Railway Yards/Carriageworks as a “magnificent stage” and its own survey indicating an overwhelming support (87%) for the venue, it was dumped for this year’s fair.

The new 'home' of the Jewellery Industry Fair is the Venue Alexandria which is described as "a premium warehouse space with clean, industrial lines located in a commercial precinct".
