Profile
Surfsands Pty. Ltd. was established in 1987. Gem Exports Pty. Ltd., an associate company, was established in 1966. The owner of these two companies has half a century of experience in the Jewellery Industry.

Surfsands is a supplier to; Designers, Manufacturers, Retailers and Wholesalers. It’s main activity is the supply of loose gemstones, but Surfsands also carry a quite diverse range of other products due to the many areas within the Jewellery industry that Surfsands and/or Gem Exports have been involved in over the last 50 years; Sapphire mining, import of cut stones and jewellery, export of rough and cut stones, jewellery manufacturing, Opal cutting factory, a chain of retail outlets, jewellery wholesale throughout Australia and pioneering the export of Australian rough Sapphires to Thailand in the mid 1960’s which, by 1970 led Gem Exports to become the second largest sapphire dealer and exporter of rough Sapphires from Australia.

In the 1980’s, Surfsands and Gem Exports were possible the first to ever brand and promote an Australian gemstone under the slogan; “Reddestone Creek Sapphires - Mined, Cut and Polished in Australia”. Marketing within Australia was primarily done through other gemstone wholesalers.

As a result of using an automatic multi-stone cutting machine here in Australia, a far superior quality and uniform style of cutting was achieved compared to Thailand's standard of cutting at the time. Gem Exports even exported substantial quantities of CUT Sapphires to Bangkok!

Surfsands do not have “everything”, but it does have a reasonable variety of Gemstones and many other products. It is really worth having a look at www.surfsands.com where there are hundreds of photos and videos of our products.
