Emeralds, pink diamonds highlight The Green Jewel Majestique

A jewellery collection featuring exquisite Colombian emeralds and rare pink diamonds has been launched, marking the third collaboration between Muzo Emerald Colombia and Argyle Pink Diamonds.

The collection, titled The Green Jewel Majestique, showcases 10 distinctive jewellery pieces designed and created by Singapore-based Australian jeweller John Glajz.

Each piece features an emerald centrepiece, with the gemstones unearthed from the Muzo emerald mine located in western Boyacá, Colombia, and pink fancy colour diamonds from the now-defunct Argyle Diamond Mine in Western Australia.

The collection comprises of rings, earrings and a necklace with a pendant, and are all set in 18-carat gold with colourless diamonds.

"Two of nature’s rarities, the mesmerizing Muzo emeralds and the alluring Argyle pink diamonds, [and] are once again brought together through the continuation of a unique collaboration.”

“It has been my pleasure and privilege to be involved in the concept, design and creation of all three Green Jewel Collections,” Glajz told National Jeweller.

He added the latest collection showcases “two of nature’s rarities, the mesmerizing Muzo emeralds and the alluring Argyle pink diamonds, [and] are once again brought together through the continuation of a unique collaboration.”

Glajz was also responsible for two other projects with the initial undertaking called The Green Jewel Collection, followed by The Green Jewel Collection Encore.

Colombian emeralds are known for their remarkable quality and the Muzo emerald mines are one of the foremost sources of the gemstones. Emeralds are also commonly sourced from Brazil, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia.

The only Argyle pink diamonds available are the remaining polished stones in inventory. Rio Tinto, the owner of Argyle Mine, closed the mine in late 2020 after more than 30 years of operation.

The WA mine produced more than 865 million carats of rough diamonds and was the world’s largest producer of natural fancy colour diamonds.
