De Beers names new sightholders

De Beers Group has released the company names of its five new sightholders, four of which are based in Mumbai, India.
The new sightholders for the remainder of the 2012-2015 contract period are Asian Star Company, H Dipak, HVK International, KP Sanghvi & Sons and Wing Hang Company. De Beers now has a total of 82 sightholders globally.

As previously reported by Jeweller, this was the first contract period in which the company allowed auction customers to apply for term contract supply and sightholder status. In order to qualify, businesses needed to demonstrate sufficient demand through its auction sales in 2012.

Companies also had to meet the same financial and compliance requirements as existing sightholders.

Asian Star is a diamond and jewellery manufacturer and retailer headquartered in Mumbai. Established in 1971, the business has a presence in Asia, Europe and America.

H Dipak claims to be the largest manufacturer of fancy-shaped diamonds as well as the biggest supplier of princess-cut diamonds to major retailers in the US. Founded in 1996, the Mumbai-based business has five factories worldwide.

Also based in Mumbai is HVK International, which states that its core competency is the manufacturing and marketing of natural coloured diamonds. HVK International has worked predominately with diamonds for more than 20 years.

KP Sanghvi was established in Surat, India in 1965 and now has its head office in Mumbai. According to the business, it is the largest specialist manufacturer and supplier of smalls in SI to piqué clarities across colours (white, grey, coloured and brown). It also distributes commercial-grade pointers and caraters. It has nine offices and 49 factories.

Headquartered in Hong Kong, Wing Hang says it has a strong foothold in the global diamond wholesale industry. The business was founded in 1975 and has three offices and two factories.

The five new companies, as well as De Beers’ existing sightholders, are listed on its corporate website.
