Jewellery retailers will be given the opportunity to start 2014 “bang-on
trend”, following the announcement that a watch integrating Pantone’s
new Colour of the Year will soon be made available.
The Radiant Orchid-coloured watch is the latest addition to the Ice-Watch Pantone Universe Collection – a range that launched in January 2013 and is produced in collaboration with Pantone.
Pantone selects a new colour each year based on global influences ranging from popular travel destinations to technology. It is said to influence product development and purchasing decisions in various industries including, fashion, home and industrial design.
The link for jewellers therefore, could be important with consumers potentially looking to purchase accessories in the same shade. Radiant Orchid 18-3224, a purple hue with pink and fuchsia undertones, is said to inspire confidence and provide joy, love and health.
Ice-Watch Australasia CEO Larry Porter confirmed that the model would be available to local retailers in January 2014.
Pantone, which promotes itself as a world colour authority, and Ice-Watch first announced their partnership in late 2012. It marked the first time Pantone had collaborated with the watch and jewellery industry.
Commenting on the success of the collaboration, Porter said: “For those in the know, it has been a great alignment. Pantone is renowned as the world's colour authority and the partnership definitely re-enforces our position as the world’s foremost colour watch brand.”
Ice-Watch also will be releasing in the new year three other Pantone coloured timepieces – Bird of Paradise, Cockatoo and Dazzling Blue.
