Sydney jewellery fair visitors will have the opportunity to win a bevy of jewellery prizes
Sydney jewellery fair visitors will have the opportunity to win a bevy of jewellery prizes

Visitors set to win at Sydney jewellery fair

A host of competitions and prizes will be on offer to Sydney jewellery fair attendees, including the Treasure Chest contest that is making a return with a value of almost $20,000.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural prize draw, fair organiser Expertise Events will again present a ‘treasure chest’ of jewellery-related items to one lucky International Jewellery Fair (IJF) visitor.

The jackpot comprises products donated by participating exhibitors such as Peter W Beck, Pallion, Sams Group Australia, Julie Sandlau, Australian Designer Jewellery and Retail Edge Consultants.

At the time of publication, the total value of the chest’s contents was $19,600, with some of the items including a blue sapphire and diamond necklace, an 18-carat yellow gold pendant featuring a South Sea pearl and a women’s two-tone stainless steel diamond-set Swiss watch.

Visitors will receive one entry into the draw for every $1,000 spent with a participating supplier; the winner will be announced on the final day of the fair.

Promotions galore

In addition to the Treasure Chest prize draw, a number of suppliers will conduct their own competitions and promotions, some of which have been listed below.

Nash Pearls is giving away two major prizes as part of a contest that runs until the end of January 2016. The grand prize is $500,000 wholesale credit, which jewellers can spend on the supplier’s range of South Sea pearl jewellery and findings. A South Sea pearl strand with a wholesale value of $10,000 will also be on offer.

Fair visitors can enter the competition by completing an entry form at the Nash Pearls stand, and will have opportunities to gain bonus entries by making additional purchases. Those entering the contest at the trade show will also receive a free mystery gift.

Meanwhile, visitors to the Julie Sandlau stand will have the chance to go into a daily draw to win their favourite Julie Sandlau piece.

Jewelation will also host a daily lucky draw prize, with attendees who complete a questionnaire going into the running for a sterling silver earring, ring and pendant gift set featuring pearls and cubic zirconia.

The prizes available are not limited to jewellery, though.

Adina Watches will be manufacturing men’s watches during the trade show and giving customers the opportunity to win their own watch design.

Visitors will be able to select from a range of components to create their own individual design, which will then be assembled by one of Adina’s watchmakers. A photo of the customer and their watch will be posted on the supplier’s Facebook page, and the customer whose design receives the most follower votes will be reimbursed for the timepiece.

In addition, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council will send one lucky visitor to attend the Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair in March 2016, with the prize including one economy return flight to Hong Kong as well as three nights’ accommodation.

Live demonstrations

Various suppliers will provide live product demonstrations at their stands during the fair.

For the first time, representatives from TDM Solutions – the developer of the RhinoGold jewellery CAD software – will be in Australia with local distributor CAD Jewelry School. They will be showing how editable components from the RhinoGold Elements library can be manipulated in RhinoGold 5.5 to make unique pieces of jewellery that are 3D printer-ready.

CadCulture will have a 3D printer available at its stand and will demonstrate how the equipment is used as part of the business’ jewellery printing and casting service.

Above is just a sample of the special offers and activities being conducted by suppliers exhibiting at the fair. The IJF will this year break from its traditional Sunday opening and will be held from Saturday 29 to Monday 31 August at the Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island.
