TWM Co chief operating officer Roberto Ulas explained that the Melbourne-based business would provide a same-day order and return service for its ‘plain’ wedding ring range.
According to Ulas, the same-day offering is the ‘first’ of its kind in Australia and came after identifying a gap in the local market where customer demands of the “next generation” were not being met.
“We have listened to our clients’ needs and found that the biggest shortfall in wedding ring orders was the turnaround time,” Ulas said.
“In today’s market, the end consumer does not want to wait and jewellers out there need to provide the next generation of wedding ring buyers with another level of exceptional service.”
Ulas explained that the same-day service, which commences 1 November, would be available for the supplier’s “plain ring profiles” in 9-carat, 14-carat and 18-carat yellow, rose and white gold. It would also include custom finger sizing and rhodium plating for white gold bands.
Retailers would be required to place their order and finalise payment by midday.
“This level of service is very common in the US jewellery industry, but has never been offered on our shores,” Ulas added.
“In our pilot test run with hand-selected retailers the response was amazing, and it highlighted the real need for this service.”
Branching overseas
The announcement followed news of TWM Co’s entry into the US market.
Ulas explained that the supplier opened its first international office in Boston approximately six months ago.
Commenting on the decision, Ulas noted that TWM Co had been servicing the US market since January 2016.
“It was a natural progression to have a fixed office to service our clients,” he said, adding that the office was headed by director Rudi Ingilli.
TWM Co, which was established in 1966, also supplies engagement rings and refining services.
